Impact of our work

Releasing burn contractures through plastic surgery is essential to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent long-term disability. Contractures caused by deep burns severely limit movement, distort normal anatomy, and affect daily living. Surgical release combined with appropriate reconstruction improves mobility, appearance, and quality of life, while also reducing the risk of recurrent deformity.

Treating cleft lip and palate is crucial to ensure that a child can feed, breathe, speak, and grow normally. Early surgical correction prevents long-term nutritional, developmental, hearing, and speech difficulties, while also reducing social stigma and improving overall quality of life.

Patients report life changing impact affecting their day to day life. Children treated are able to go back to school to complete studies and make new friends. Adults report an ability to go back to performing jobs, finding life partners and increased confidence to make new, meaningful social relationships which they were otherwise unable to before

Quality of life improves significantly!

Parvathamma

Parvathamma’s husband set her on fire after the birth of their second child. The severe burns took away mobility from both arms and she had been unable to straighten them since.

In the 2018 camp, 3 Plastic surgeons together operated on her for 3 hours to perform multiple skin grafts and she gained back mobility on both arms 3 days from surgery.

She now works in a local school as a helper and is raising her 2 children independently
