While free camps for cleft lip and palate exist in India, currently very few programs address extensive deformities caused by burns, acid attacks and serious accidents. To bridge this critical gap, Friends Welfare Organisation has partnered with Rotaplast, USA, to organise specialised reconstructive surgery camps.

A team of expert plastic surgeons from Rotaplast, provides advanced surgical care, with FWO covering all treatment-related costs, including travel, surgery, medication, and meals, which typically range from ₹1.5 to ₹5 lakhs per patient.

Outreach and pre-screening of individuals in need in co-ordination with NGO Partners, Media etc.
Cover all cost related to screening and plastic surgery camps.
FWO handles all logistics, Government Permissions and Medical Licences.
FWO covers the local hospital cost and post operative care, along with providing stay / meals / medicines for the patient and attendant. No charge / payment is done by the individual.
For out of station individuals, travel and stay costs are arranged by FWO.
FWO does periodic post operation follow-up with the individuals directly.

Treating burn contractures caused by contact with fire, gas and abusive humans.

Common causes for severe burn contractures which we treat include:

Cylinder blasts in kitchen
Contact with hot water/oil
Contact with open fire, particularly in rural settings
Domestic violence survivors
Acid attack survivors

Key patient demographics

Patients from across various parts of India travel to Bangalore to avail of the free service. In the 2025 camp, we saw patients from

4 States: Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Assam
17 districts: Bangalore, Darrang, Morigaon, Hindupur, Salem etc
70% rural and 30% urban
Travel times for patients ranging from 1 hour to 60 hours
